Bailey Pursuit Plus 550-4 Used Caravan

This 4 berth Bailey Pursuit Plus 550-4 used caravan is in excellent condition both inside and outside. It has the advanced Bailey Alutech Bodyshell that makes caravans lighter, more durable and provides superior thermal efficiency.

Both smoke and carbon-monoxide detectors are fitted. The main entrance door can be used as a stable door providing excellent ventilation and there is an integral, easy to use flyscreen to keep unwanted pests out. Our photographs show the vinyl flooring but the caravan does come with loose, drop-in carpets.

The Front Lounge
The lounge area needs to be comfortable and pleasant to be in, as it the main activity area during your holiday and the 550-4 won't disappoint. With a rooflight to balance the day-light coming in through the surrounding windows the area is light, airy and provides that ideal space for relaxation.

As is typical with most modern caravans, the seating in this Bailey caravan is firm and comfortable and for a four berth there is plenty of stretch room. The two seats are slightly different in length ( 1 x 157cm and 1 x 175cm ). Access to the storage space beneath the seats is easy; removing the cushion seats gives access to the sprung loaded seat supports that lift up easily. This Pursuit 550-4 has Bailey's easy bed make-up system. Looking at our photographs you will see this is a frame with wooden slats that pulls out from one of the seats. This features makes the task of changing the area into a bedroom and of course back into a lounge just that much easier and more convenient.

The single drawer cabinet between the seats has the usual occasional pull-out table facility ( see photographs ) but also houses the easy access fuse-box at the bottom. A mains power socket can be found set into the front of one of the seats. The JVC CD player / radio is attached to two speakers that are set into the side walls on either side of the caravan. To ensure good reception, the radio is linked to a Vision Plus VP3 signal amplifier.

At night there is a choice of making this area into a double bed ( 6' 8" x 4' 10" ) or two singles ( 5' 2" x 2' 6" & 5' 10" x 2' 6" ) and as previously mentioned there is the easy bed make-up system to aid this process. Night-time lighting is provided by a combination of two directional spotlights and a main overhead ceiling light.

The Kitchen
Towards the middle of the overall layout of the caravan and directly opposite the entrance door, the kitchen area has a reasonable amount of workstop space - with a clear area for prep-work at the left-hand end. Inset into the worktop is a stainless steel, circular sink with mixer tap ( see photograph ). The Thetford three burner hob ( all gas ) is flush with the worktop. The Thetford Duplex combination oven and grill beneath the worktop are in a nice condition. Beneath the oven is a handy cupboard useful for baking trays and similar items.

The Dometic 103 litre fridge has electronic ignition and a detachable full width freezer compartment. If you choose to remove the freezer compartment then the fridge capacity increases to 110 litres.

Completing the kitchen equipment is a Daewoo, stainless steel, 800 watt microwave.

What looks like three overhead storage cupboards is actually a single plus a double width cupboard. Inside this is a metal plate holder / rack and a bottle holder rack - each of these can be easily removed if they are not required.

For night-time lighting to the kitchen there are two fixed spot lights at ceiling height and a further spot light lighting up the worktop.

The WC / Shower Room
Situated at the rear of the caravan the room features a swivel Thetford C-260 cassette toilet with integrated header tank. To the left as you enter, is a wardrobe style cupboard with hanging rail. This is also where the dining table for the lounge is stored. To the right of this is the washbasin with mixer tap and a storage cupboard usefull for toiletries beneath. Moving even further right we come to the shower cubicle that is fitted with the now popular energy saving Ecocamel shower head. For night-time lighting there is a large ceiling light.

The TV Station
Situated directly opposite the kitchen, the TV station area has a TV connection point, a 12v socket plus a mains socket ( see photograph ). There is also a Vision Plus V3 signal booster and a telescopic Vision Plus Status 550 digital aerial fitted to help you get the best possible signal reception for both your TV and radio. Cupboards above and below provide storage for equipment, handsets, DVD's and similar items.

Hi Dick
I had a 36 months gold package with them and made a claim for a repair in France.
They paid 80% of the bill which was over 1100 euro.
In my book that was good value

Hi Glandwr.
I have had very good experiences with this company 3 years ago. Firstly, the power steering rack failed. One phone call to MB&G. I was asked where I would like to have it done, which was our local garage in Gretna. They then contacted the gararage. All I had to do was to sit and wait a few days until it was done.Brilliant!

Next was the kitchen tap which went in France--quick phone call to MB&G--kept receipt and was re-imbursed within 4 days of being back home. The integral bike rack hinges failed. It was repaired by Peter Hambilton, who did a brilliant job. Again, just a quick phone call to MB&G,and everything was sorted. I would only hope they are still as good now as they were then. I couldn't fault them. The warranty was in with the price of the van,so I can't say how much it cost but as the van was 10 yrs old I wanted some form of assurance for that 1st year. Incidentally,it's needed nothing since, other than basic service items. You can only speak as you find, but for me they were vey good.
