Sterling Eccles Amethyst Used Caravan

5 Berth · Single Axle · Fixed Rear Dining Area · 2001 · AL-KO Stabiliser

The Front Lounge
The 'L' shaped seating arrangement of this lounge sensibly faces the TV station area. The lounge has an open, roomy feel due to it's overall layout and if you like to stretch out your legs whilst relaxing it would prove to be ideal. The storage space under the seats can be accessed in two ways. There are doors in the front of the seat bases, but these are not full width and onlt give limited access. For full access you will need to remove the seat cushions and lift the slatted frame ( see photograph ).

As well as the storage under the seats there are top lockers all the way round plus a good sized, deep cupboard in the TV station area.

Entertainment is provided by the JVC CD / Radio player, which is linked to the signal booster for improved signal reception and is of course connected to the two insets speakers at the very front of the caravan.

At night this area can be made into a bedroom area with a double bed ( 6' 6" x 4' 4" ). To make this task easier and more practical, there is an easy bed make-up system to aid this process. This is an array of wooden slats that pulls out from under the one of the seats ( not the drawer cabinet like many ) to provide support for the beds. It is as easy to put away as it it to pull-out.

Daylight comes into the lounge via the surrounding windows and the rooflight above. Windows have flyscreens, blinds and curtains. Night-time lighting comes from the two directional spotlights that have their own switches, two shaded lights with pull cords and the ceiling.

The Kitchen
The kitchen has a 4 gas burner hob with oven and grill and a storage cupboard beneath for baking trays and similar items. The sink has a full drainer which is not typical these days. Storage is provided by two overhead cupboards, a small extra cupboard beneath these and a tall, thin cupboard with cutlery tray and basket racks.

Daylight to the kitchen comes via the window behind the sink. There is a medium sized roof-vent above to aid with the reduction of condensation from cooking. Night-time lighting comes from the strip light that lights up the sink area and the main ceiling light.

The Central Area Opposite Kitchen
Directly opposite the kitchen, on the other side of the caravan is a multipurpose area. To the left, is a large wardrobe with hanging rail and beneath that the Truma Ultraheat space heater. There is also a tall, narrow cupboard that houses the fuses and the dining table.

In this central area we find the Washroom / WC. One of the distinctive advantages of having a central washroom is that at night, it is accessible to those from the front or rear of the caravan without having to go through the sleeping area of others. The washroom has a ceiling vent to help reduce moisture and condensation.

The Rear Dining Area
As well as the obvious convenience for meal-times this area also provides a considerable amount of storage space. There are no less than seven overhead lockers with small shelves beneath and considerable storage space beneath the seats.

For night-time lighting there are two directional spotlights and a main ceiling light. When using the area for sleeping at night it can provide a double bed of 6' 6" x 4' 4" and a bunk bed of 6' 4" x 1' 11". Just like the front lounge area, there is an easy bed make-up system.

Inset speakers are also provided so that music from the CD player / Radio can be enjoyed.

Hi Dick
I had a 36 months gold package with them and made a claim for a repair in France.
They paid 80% of the bill which was over 1100 euro.
In my book that was good value

Hi Glandwr.
I have had very good experiences with this company 3 years ago. Firstly, the power steering rack failed. One phone call to MB&G. I was asked where I would like to have it done, which was our local garage in Gretna. They then contacted the gararage. All I had to do was to sit and wait a few days until it was done.Brilliant!

Next was the kitchen tap which went in France--quick phone call to MB&G--kept receipt and was re-imbursed within 4 days of being back home. The integral bike rack hinges failed. It was repaired by Peter Hambilton, who did a brilliant job. Again, just a quick phone call to MB&G,and everything was sorted. I would only hope they are still as good now as they were then. I couldn't fault them. The warranty was in with the price of the van,so I can't say how much it cost but as the van was 10 yrs old I wanted some form of assurance for that 1st year. Incidentally,it's needed nothing since, other than basic service items. You can only speak as you find, but for me they were vey good.
