Bailey Ranger 470-4 Series 5 Used Caravan

The Front Lounge

  • Seating - Each seat is 150cm long ( 4ft 11in approx ) before seat bolster or cushions are put in place. For full access to the space beneath the seats you will need to remove the seat cushions and lift the slatted frame.
  • Storage - As well as the area under the seats mentioned already, the front lounge area has 3 overhead cupboards and some shelf units as well.
  • Daylight - Natural daylight is provided by a combination of the surrounding windows and the rooflight above.
  • Night-Time Lighting - there are 4 directional spotlights ( 2 of each type - see photographs ), each with their own switch. This means that you can select which ones to have on or off. In addition to these there are also 4 small fixed spotlights situated around the rooflight.
  • Using As A Sleeping Area - The front lounge has Bailey's Easy Bed Make-Up System. This is an array of wooden slats that pulls out on a glide-track set into the front of the seating ( see photograph ). It makes the process of changing the lounge into a sleeping area easier and less tiresome. To cut out light, all rooflights and windows have integral pleated blinds. You can make the area into a double bed; 6' 6" x 4' 6"

Kitchen

  • Storage - The kitchen has 3 overhead storage cupboards and a large drawer beneath the worktop. Below the oven is a storage area for baking trays and similar items.
  • Worktop - please see photographs.
  • Cooker - the kitchen has a Thetford Spinflo combined grill and domestic style glass fronted oven with flame failure device.
  • Hob - Thetford Spinflo recessed 4 burner hob unit
  • Refrigerator - Thetford 96 litre refrigerator with full width freezer compartment.
  • Sink - stainless steel kitchen sink set into the worktop. There is a swan neck mixer tap to supply hot and cold water.
  • Daylight - the wide window behind the hob gives daylight onto the worktop and there is also a rooflight above giving natural daylight into the kitchen area. Also in the roof is a vent to reduce moisture and cooking odours.
  • Night-Time Lighting - a combination of a strip light and a directional spotlight are provided for illuminating the worktop at night. General lighting to the kitchen is provided by a fixed spotlight and the main overhead ceiling light.

The Dining Area

Sensibly, the dining area is directly opposite the kitchen - making it easy and convenient for serving meals. The area has 2 overhead storage cupboards which can easily be utilise as extra kitchen storage if preferred. There are also 2 shelving cubicles that can be used in the same way. Further storage can be found underneath the seats.

If or when using the area for sleeping at night there is a draw curtain for partitioning the area from the rest of the caravan. Bed sizes are 1 @ 5' 7" x 2' 2" and 1 @ 5' 5" x 2' 0"

  • Daylight - A large window and a rooflight above provide daylight to the dining area.
  • Night-Time Lighting - 2 directional spotlights each with their own switch plus general lighting provided by a ceiling light.

The WC / Washroom

Walking you round from left to right in the washroom area, firstly we have the Thetford cassette toilet with integrated header tank. This has plenty of space around it. Next we have a very large cupboard with a top shelf and a hanging rail. Next comes the washbasin with useful storage beneath and a good amount of shelving both above and to the right. The wall mounted mirror ( just visible in the photographs is to the left.

Finally, to the right of these is the shower cubicle itself. The cubicle has a folding entrance door. The cubilcle is fitted with a vent to reduce the build up of condensation. The cubicle measures 95cm by 64cm approximately.

The washroom has a spotlight over the washbasin area and another spotlight at the main entrance for night-time lighting.

The TV Station

Immediately next to the kitchen but ideally suited for watching TV from the lounge is the TV station. You will notice from the photographs that the worktop surface is lower than that of the kitchen. As well as the TV signal connection point there are 2 mains sockets and a 12 volt power socket.

USED CARAVAN WARRANTY FROM PENROSE TOURING

Warranty Included In The Price

Unless otherwise stated, the Penrose Touring price includes 12 months warranty provided by MB&G Insurance. At the time of purchase you are provided with a booklet produced by MB&G Insurance. The booklet explains what the warranty does and does not cover, what additional benefits you may be entitled to, the insurance conditions and how to make a claim under the warranty. The booklet also includes a claim form for your convenience.

MB&G - Who Are They?

MB&G Insurance are one of the few remaining privately owned warranty providers and have been in business since 1978. They are members of the Retail Motor Industry Federation, the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders and the National Caravan Council and have staff who specifically deal with caravan warranty. To quote MB&G themselves

Dealing with a Caravan warranty claim can be a very complex situation, which is why you’ll be glad of our knowledge and expertise. We understand the difficulties and can point out the potential pitfalls, and we also work with the manufacturers too. We can even cover that old devil, water ingress – a common problem that doesn’t always have a common solution – for up to seven years. Put simply, you can rely on us whatever the weather.

How Does It Work?

The warranty contract will be between yourselves and MB&G Insurance. If you need to make a warranty claim then you contact MB&G Insurance direct. We have collected a couple of quotes from people who have made warranty claims with MB&G Insurance which we feel will be helpful.

Hi Dick

I had a 36 months gold package with them and made a claim for a repair in France.
They paid 80% of the bill which was over 1100 euro.
In my book that was good value

Hi Glandwr.
I have had very good experiences with this company 3 years ago. Firstly, the power steering rack failed. One phone call to MB&G. I was asked where I would like to have it done, which was our local garage in Gretna. They then contacted the gararage. All I had to do was to sit and wait a few days until it was done.Brilliant!

Next was the kitchen tap which went in France--quick phone call to MB&G--kept receipt and was re-imbursed within 4 days of being back home. The integral bike rack hinges failed. It was repaired by Peter Hambilton, who did a brilliant job. Again, just a quick phone call to MB&G,and everything was sorted. I would only hope they are still as good now as they were then. I couldn't fault them. The warranty was in with the price of the van,so I can't say how much it cost but as the van was 10 yrs old I wanted some form of assurance for that 1st year. Incidentally,it's needed nothing since, other than basic service items. You can only speak as you find, but for me they were very good.

What Else Should I Know?

The type/level of warranty applicable is dependent on the age of the caravan. The information provided here is not exhaustive; it is not possible to state what is included and what is specifically excluded by the warranty cover you will receive. If you require this information then you need to check your policy or request the information before purchasing the caravan.
