Bailey Unicorn Cadiz Series 3 Used Caravan

The Front Lounge

  • Seating - As you would expect from a 2015 caravan the seating is still in excellent condition and is comfortable and supportive. For full access to the space beneath the seats you will need to remove the seat cushions and lift the slatted frame but there is an end door access to one of the seats that gives handy but partial access only. Seats are 1.8 metres long approx but some of this length is taken up by the shoulder bolsters.
  • Storage - As well as the area under the seats mentioned already, the front lounge area has 4 overhead cupboards and a 2 drawer cabinet with a small cupboard at the bottom.
  • Daylight - One thing this front lounge is not short of is natural daylight - provided by a combination of the surrounding windows, the large front vertical panoramic skylight window and the rooflight above.
  • Night-Time Lighting - there are 4 directional spotlights, each with their own switch. This means that you can select which ones to have on or off. In addition to these there are also 7 small fixed spotlights situated around the lounge and across the skylight.
  • Using As A Sleeping Area - The front lounge has Bailey's Easy Bed Make-Up System. This is an array of wooden slats that pulls out from under the two drawer cabinet on a glide-track ( see photograph ). It makes the process of changing the lounge into a sleeping area easier and less tiresome. To cut out light, all rooflights and windows have integral pleated blinds. You can either make the area into a double bed; 6' 6" x 5' 11" or two singles; 5' 11" x 2' 2" & 6' 0" x 2' 2"
  • Other Features - the TV connection point is at the very front of the lounge, set into the window sill. It has the usual 12 volt and mains power points as well as the signal point which is linked to the signal booster and aerial. This position means it is easy to place a TV on the top of the 2 drawer cabinet and connect it up. A JVC DAB radio / CD player linked to two JVC speakers is also provided for further entertainment.

The kitchen has a distinctive reversed 'P' shaped design. This gives more worktop space and a deeper, more useful cupboard beneath the worktops. Bailey have utilised both sides of the caravan for the kitchen area - placing the large fridge and some storage on the opposite side.

  • Storage - There are two overhead storage cupboards. Just above the worktop and at the back is a narrow cupboard for storing bottles, but it could very easily be converted for some other use if preferred. In the 'P' section, below the worktop and to the left of the kitchen is a cupboard with three levels ( see photographs ). To the right of this is a drawer with a cutlery tray and beneath that another good sized cupboard. Below the oven is a storage area for baking trays and similar items. On the opposite side of the caravan is the refrigerator and this has a cupboard above it providing even further kitchen storage.
  • Worktop - The 'P' shape of the worktop helps to provide greater surface area for the worktop but in addition Bailey have fitted a worktop extension flap to provide even more worktop space when needed; typically when preparing meals ( see photographs ).
  • Cooker - the kitchen has a Thetford Caprice combined oven, grill and hob with electronic ignition and flame failure device. The oven is in good condition.
  • Hob - Thetford dual fuel hob with electric hotplate and 3 gas burners.
  • Refrigerator - Dometic 133 litre tower refrigerator with electronic ignition. Note: the fridge is situated on the opposite side of the caravan.
  • Microwave - Daewoo stainless steel 800 watt microwave oven positioned above the hob ( see photographs ).
  • Sink - a circular, stainless steel kitchen sink set into the worktop. There is a swan neck mixer tap to supply hot and cold water.
  • Daylight - the wide window behind the sink gives daylight onto the worktop and there is also a rooflight above giving natural daylight into the kitchen area.
  • Night-Time Lighting - there are four small fixed spotlights that shine over the worktop surface and hob.
  • Other - the kitchen is provided with two mains sockets.

The Bedroom Area

The 'galley' style bedroom can be separated from the kitchen by a sliding / folding room divider. It has a highly symetrical feel to the design with one side mirroring the other.
Storage - The bedroom has no less than six overhead storage cupboards - 3 per side. Under each bed is a large storage space that is accessed by lifting the mattress and frame. A small but handy shelf is also provided each side.

  • Daylight - Each side of the caravan has a window to provide daylight into the bedroom. Overhead is a medium sized rooflight as well.
  • Night-Time Lighting - a directional spotlight with it's own switch has been positioned at the headboard end of each bed - particularly useful for bed-time reading etc. In addition to these each side has 3 fixed spotlights for general lighting.
  • Other - There is a TV connection point in the bedroom that has the usual 12 volt and mains power sockets and is of course linked to the signal booster and aerial. A wall mounted, swing-arm bracket is also provided ( see photographs ). A single mains socket is available in the bedroom ( at the base of one of the beds ).

The WC / Washroom

Walking you round from left to right in the washroom area, firstly we have the radiator, to the right of this is the large cupboard with hanging rail for items that need to be kept and stored on hangers. Moving round further we have the window to supply daylight and below that the Thetford C-260 cassette toilet with integrated header tank. Next we have the washbasin with useful storage beneath and a decent sized wall mounted mirror above it. Note: there is also a shelf that runs above and across the toilet and washbasin that would be very useful for shampoos, shower gels, shaving equipment etc.

Finally, to the right of these is the shower cubicle itself. The cubicle is fully lined and has a fully opening swing door. Integrated into the lining of the cubicle is a shelf. The cubilcle is fitted with the popular EcoCamel shower head and has two lights within the cubicle. The cubicle measures 80cm wide by 68cm deep approximately.

The washroom has a main ceiling light for night-time lighting.

  • Alu-Tech Bodyshell - The Alu-Tech bodyshell is a patented aluminium external framework that clamps the bodyshell panels together. Warranty Included In The Price

Unless otherwise stated, the Penrose Touring price includes 12 months warranty provided by MB&G Insurance. At the time of purchase you are provided with a booklet produced by MB&G Insurance. The booklet explains what the warranty does and does not cover, what additional benefits you may be entitled to, the insurance conditions and how to make a claim under the warranty. The booklet also includes a claim form for your convenience.

MB&G - Who Are They?

MB&G Insurance are one of the few remaining privately owned warranty providers and have been in business since 1978. They are members of the Retail Motor Industry Federation, the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders and the National Caravan Council and have staff who specifically deal with caravan warranty. To quote MB&G themselves

Dealing with a Caravan warranty claim can be a very complex situation, which is why you’ll be glad of our knowledge and expertise. We understand the difficulties and can point out the potential pitfalls, and we also work with the manufacturers too. We can even cover that old devil, water ingress – a common problem that doesn’t always have a common solution – for up to seven years. Put simply, you can rely on us whatever the weather.

How Does It Work?

The warranty contract will be between yourselves and MB&G Insurance. If you need to make a warranty claim then you contact MB&G Insurance direct. We have collected a couple of quotes from people who have made warranty claims with MB&G Insurance which we feel will be helpful.

Hi Dick

I had a 36 months gold package with them and made a claim for a repair in France.
They paid 80% of the bill which was over 1100 euro.
In my book that was good value

Hi Glandwr.
I have had very good experiences with this company 3 years ago. Firstly, the power steering rack failed. One phone call to MB&G. I was asked where I would like to have it done, which was our local garage in Gretna. They then contacted the gararage. All I had to do was to sit and wait a few days until it was done.Brilliant!

Next was the kitchen tap which went in France--quick phone call to MB&G--kept receipt and was re-imbursed within 4 days of being back home. The integral bike rack hinges failed. It was repaired by Peter Hambilton, who did a brilliant job. Again, just a quick phone call to MB&G,and everything was sorted. I would only hope they are still as good now as they were then. I couldn't fault them. The warranty was in with the price of the van,so I can't say how much it cost but as the van was 10 yrs old I wanted some form of assurance for that 1st year. Incidentally,it's needed nothing since, other than basic service items. You can only speak as you find, but for me they were very good.

What Else Should I Know?

The type/level of warranty applicable is dependent on the age of the caravan. The information provided here is not exhaustive; it is not possible to state what is included and what is specifically excluded by the warranty cover you will receive. If you require this information then you need to check your policy or request the information before purchasing the caravan.
