General

A two berth caravan that would be ideal for the touring couple - particularly those starting out on their caravanning experience or those with a smaller towing vehicle. Externally and internally, this modern caravan is in excellent condition. It also has the benefits of a fixed double bed - no need to convert an area of the caravan into a sleeping area and back again - an undesirable, daily routine for some. We describe the interior in detail below.

As You Enter

As you enter the caravan, immediately on your left you will find the Truma space heater ( see photographs ). Above this is the tall, main storage cupboard and inside the cupboard you will find a hanging rail for items of clothing that need to be kept that bit smarter ( see photographs ).

The Lounge / Dining Area

• Seating - as you can see this area has a 'U' shaped seating arrangement. There is absolutely loads of seating space for 2 people plus guests. The approximate dimensions are 145cm x 155cm x 90cm. There is useful storage space under the seats should you require it.
• Night-Time Lighting - the lounge has 2 versatile, directional spotlights ( see photographs ) and a main ceiling light to provide general light to the area. 
• Daylight - daylight into the lounge is provided by the combination of surrounding windows plus the rooflight  above.
• Storage - As well as the space under the seats, the lounge has 2 overhead lockers.
• Entertainment - There is a TV bracket with 'swing arm' located between this lounge area and the bedroom. Close to the arm is the TV connection point and mains socket. This is connected to a Vision Plus VP5 signal booster and the digital aerial.

The Kitchen

• Storage - The kitchen has 2 overhead storage cupboards with a shelving unit between and a small storage space beneath the cooker. There is also a drawer with cutlery tray.
• Daylight - the window behind the hob and sink and the rooflight above give daylight into the kitchen area.
• Night-Time Lighting - there is a small striplight under the top units that shines down onto the hob and sink. The ceiling light nearby will also provide some light.
• Cooking - The kitchen is fitted with a Thetford grill and oven. Inset into the worktop is a 3 burner hob unit ( see photographs ).
• Refrigerator - The kitchen comes with an 85 litre refrigerator ( see photographs ).
• Sink - recessed stainless steel sink with single mixer tap.

The WC / Shower Room

Beside the bedroom, the WC / Shower room has a space saving / space utilising fold-down washbasin. It has a Thetford cassette toilet and there is a roof vent to reduce condensation. Daylight comes into the washroom via the side window and roof vent.

The Bedroom

The bedroom has a good-sized, fixed double bed - which not only provides convenience and comfort but also a large storage area beneath. There are 2 overhead lockers for storage as well as a 'rack' of shelves and a tall, narrow cupboard also. For night-time lighting there are 2 directional spotlights ( 1 at each end of the bed - headboard end ) and a main ceiling light. There is a curtain that runs on a ceiling mounted rail to separate the bedroom from the rest of the caravan.

Warranty Included In The Price

Unless otherwise stated, the Penrose Touring price includes 12 months warranty provided by MB&G Insurance. At the time of purchase you are provided with a booklet produced by MB&G Insurance. The booklet explains what the warranty does and does not cover, what additional benefits you may be entitled to, the insurance conditions and how to make a claim under the warranty. The booklet also includes a claim form for your convenience.

MB&G - Who Are They?

MB&G Insurance are one of the few remaining privately owned warranty providers and have been in business since 1978. They are members of the Retail Motor Industry Federation, the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders and the National Caravan Council and have staff who specifically deal with caravan warranty. To quote MB&G themselves

Dealing with a Caravan warranty claim can be a very complex situation, which is why you’ll be glad of our knowledge and expertise. We understand the difficulties and can point out the potential pitfalls, and we also work with the manufacturers too. We can even cover that old devil, water ingress – a common problem that doesn’t always have a common solution – for up to seven years. Put simply, you can rely on us whatever the weather.

How Does It Work?

The warranty contract will be between yourselves and MB&G Insurance. If you need to make a warranty claim then you contact MB&G Insurance direct. We have collected a couple of quotes from people who have made warranty claims with MB&G Insurance which we feel will be helpful.

I have had very good experiences with this company 3 years ago. Firstly,the power steering rack failed.One phone call to MB&G. I was asked where I would like to have it done,which was our local garage in Gretna.They then contacted the gararage.All I had to do was to sit and wait a few days until it was done.Brilliant! 

Next was the kitchen tap which went in France--quick phone call to MB&G--kept receipt and was re-imbursed within 4 days of being back home. The integral bike rack hinges failed. It was repaired by Peter Hambilton, who did a brilliant job. Again,just a quick phone call to MB&G,and everything was sorted. I would only hope they are still as good now as they were then. I couldn't fault them. The warranty was in with the price of the van,so I can't say how much it cost but as the van was 10 yrs old I wanted some form of assurance for that 1st year. Incidentally,it's needed nothing since, other than basic service items. You can only speak as you find,but for me they were very good.
