Although designated as a 4 berth caravan, this Sprite could also be seen as a good sized, luxury 2 berth caravan suitable for the touring couple. It is in a nice condition both internally and externally. It's overall length and weight means it can be towed by quite a high number of vehicles.

The Front Lounge

  • The easy bed make up systemSeating - each seat measures 1.35 metres in length before cushions are put in place, giving a reasonable amount of seating for a four berth caravan.
  • Night-Time Lighting - Set into the very front of the lounge is a light with a front diffuser ( see photographs ) and there are 2 directional spotlights, each with their own switch. This means that you can select which ones to have on or off. in addition to these there is a main ceiling light which is positioned between the front lounge and kitchen area.
  • Daylight - daylight into the front lounge is provided by a combination of the surrounding windows and the rooflight above.
  • Storage - The lounge has 4 overhead lockers. The storage space beneath the seats can be accessed either by using the front facing doors or by removing the seat cushions and lifting the slatted wood frame ( this gives full access ).
  • Using As A Sleeping Area - The front lounge has an Easy Bed Make-Up System. This is an array of wooden slats that pulls out and runs on a glide-track. It makes the process of changing the lounge into a sleeping area easier and less tiresome. To cut out light, all rooflights and windows have integral pleated blinds. You can make the area into a double bed; 6' 10" x 4' 5"
  • Entertainment - There is a JVC Radio / CD player for entertainment. and enjoyment. It is hidden away in one of the overhead lockers.
  • Other - There is no drawer cabinet but there is a handy , occasional table just ideal for those cups of tea and coffee whilst you relax and solve that crossword.

The Kitchen

  • Sprite Kitchen OverviewStorage - Above the kitchen worktop there are two overhead storage cupboards but one of these contains the microwave. There is a useful shelf unit to the right of these. Below the worktop there is a narrow but tall cupboard that separates the refrigerator and oven. Inside you will find vegetable baskets and a cutlery tray. Beneath the cooker is a cupboard ideal for storing baking trays etc.
  • Daylight - the wide window behind the sink gives daylight onto the worktop. There is also a rooflight above giving natural daylight into the kitchen area.
  • Night-Time Lighting - There is a main ceiling light which is positioned between the front lounge and kitchen area plus a small strip light that will shine directly over the worktop.
  • Cooker - The kitchen is fitted with a Thetford oven, grill and hob all in a good condition.
  • Hob - Thetford hob with 3 gas burners ( 2 standard + 1 large ).
  • Refrigerator - The kitchen comes with a silver fronted, Thetford refrigerator.
  • Microwave - the white Daewoo 700 watt microwave can be found in the top right overhead cupboard.
  • Sink - set into the worktop, the coloured 'stone finish' kitchen sink has a single swan neck mixer tap to supply hot and cold water. ( see photographs )

The Bedroom

Fixed Double BedroomThe fixed double bedroom is at the rear of the caravan and can be separated from the rest of the caravan via a curtain that pulls across.

  • Night-Time Lighting - there are 2 directional spotlights, one for each side of the bed. Each have their own switch. These are excellent if you like to sit in bed and read whilst you are on holiday. There are also two small shelves ideal for putting your book on - saving you getting out of bed.
  • Daylight - there is a window on both sides of the bedroom, a medium size window beside the bed and a smaller one by the washbasin.
  • Storage - The storage space beneath the bed is accessed by removing the mattress and lifting the slatted wood frame ( see photographs ). There are 2 overhead cupboards for further storage.
  • Television Point - the TV connection point can be found in the bedroom. It has the usual TV aerial connection with both 12 volt and mains power points. The television itself will need to be fixed to the swing arm. This will enable you to watch the TV from either the front lounge or in the bedroom.

The WC / Shower Room

Cassette Toilet of the Sprite This is essentially an en-suite to the rear bedroom. The small washbasin is directly in the bedroom whilst the shower and cassette toilet are of course in a separated room. The washbasin has a handy storage cupboard beneath that would be suitable for toiletries.

  • Shower Cubicle and Cassette Toilet - this is essentially one room with a separating shower curtain when taking a shower. There is a roof vent to reduce the build up of moisture and a ceiling light for night-time.
  • WashBasin - the washbasin is in the corner of the bedroom and has a single mixer tap for hot and cold water. Behind it is a wall mounted mirror and beneath is a cupboard. A small shelf runs along the caravan outer wall.

Directly opposite the Kitchen, on the other side of the caravan is a large wardrobe style cupboard with hanging rail suitable for clothing that needs to be on clothes hangers.

Caravan Features

Warranty Included In The Price

Unless otherwise stated, the Penrose Touring price includes 12 months warranty provided by MB&G Insurance. At the time of purchase you are provided with a booklet produced by MB&G Insurance. The booklet explains what the warranty does and does not cover, what additional benefits you may be entitled to, the insurance conditions and how to make a claim under the warranty. The booklet also includes a claim form for your convenience.

MB&G - Who Are They?

MB&G Insurance are one of the few remaining privately owned warranty providers and have been in business since 1978. They are members of the Retail Motor Industry Federation, the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders and the National Caravan Council and have staff who specifically deal with caravan warranty. To quote MB&G themselves

Dealing with a Caravan warranty claim can be a very complex situation, which is why you’ll be glad of our knowledge and expertise. We understand the difficulties and can point out the potential pitfalls, and we also work with the manufacturers too. We can even cover that old devil, water ingress – a common problem that doesn’t always have a common solution – for up to seven years. Put simply, you can rely on us whatever the weather.

How Does It Work?

The warranty contract will be between yourselves and MB&G Insurance. If you need to make a warranty claim then you contact MB&G Insurance direct. We have collected a couple of quotes from people who have made warranty claims with MB&G Insurance which we feel will be helpful.

Hi Dick

I had a 36 months gold package with them and made a claim for a repair in France.
They paid 80% of the bill which was over 1100 euro.
In my book that was good value

Hi Glandwr.
I have had very good experiences with this company 3 years ago. Firstly, the power steering rack failed. One phone call to MB&G. I was asked where I would like to have it done, which was our local garage in Gretna. They then contacted the gararage. All I had to do was to sit and wait a few days until it was done.Brilliant!

Next was the kitchen tap which went in France--quick phone call to MB&G--kept receipt and was re-imbursed within 4 days of being back home. The integral bike rack hinges failed. It was repaired by Peter Hambilton, who did a brilliant job. Again, just a quick phone call to MB&G,and everything was sorted. I would only hope they are still as good now as they were then. I couldn't fault them. The warranty was in with the price of the van,so I can't say how much it cost but as the van was 10 yrs old I wanted some form of assurance for that 1st year. Incidentally,it's needed nothing since, other than basic service items. You can only speak as you find, but for me they were very good.

What Else Should I Know?

The type/level of warranty applicable is dependent on the age of the caravan. The information provided here is not exhaustive; it is not possible to state what is included and what is specifically excluded by the warranty cover you will receive. If you require this information then you need to check your policy or request the information before purchasing the caravan.
