Sterling Elite 650 Used Caravan

In really good condition both inside and outside, this 4 berth, Elite 650 from Sterling also comes with the benefits of a motor-mover ( please note: motor-movers are not included in the warranty ). Motor-movers are excellent for taking the stress ( mentally and physically ) out of the exacting task of positioning the caravan both on the camping site and on the home driveway. It also has a solar panel fitted helping to supply free energy.

With convenience and comfort in mind, the rear of the caravan offers a fixed double island bed with central washroom - no need to make the bed up and take it down every night and morning.

The Front Lounge

  • General View of the Sterling Elite 650 Used Caravan Front LoungeSeating - the two seats differ in length. Actual sizes are 188cm and 152cm. Available lengths up to the draw cabinet and after cushions are in place are 153cm and 116cm respectively ( dimensions are approximate ). This gives plenty of seating for four people plus other guests. As you would expect from a 2017 caravan, seating is practical, comfortable, firm and in good condition.
  • Night-Time Lighting - the lounge has 4 directional spotlights each with their own switch. This means that you can select which ones to have on or off. These are set into the 'four corners' of the lounge. In addition to these there is an inset striplight set into the ceiling . This also has it's own switch.
  • Daylight - the front lounge has ample daylight coming into it. The combination of surrounding windows, skylight and the rooflight that is between the lounge and kitchen provide plenty of daylight into the front lounge making it a great holidaying space.
  • Storage - The lounge has 3 standard width, overhead lockers. Further storage is provided by the 2 drawers at the front between the seats and beneath these is another storage cupboard. There is of course storage beneath the seats as well. This can be accessed in two different ways; by using the handy front doors, but these only give partial access or by removing the seat cushions and lifting the slatted wood frame ( this gives full access ).
  • Using As A Sleeping Area - The front lounge has an Easy Bed Make-Up System. This is an array of wooden slats that pulls out and runs on a glide-track. It makes the process of changing the lounge into a sleeping area easier and less tiresome. To cut out light, all rooflights and windows have integral pleated blinds. You can either make the area into a double bed; 6' 0" x 4' 4" or two single beds; 1 @ 6' 2" x 2' 2" and 1 @ 5' 0" x 2' 2"
  • Entertainment - There is a a JVC KD-R464 Radio / CD / MP3 player ( hidden in one of the overhead lockers ) with aux input and USB capability/port. Connected to stereo speakers. The radio is also connected to the Vision Plus VP2 signal booster.
  • Other - An occasional table pulls out from the top of the 2 drawer cabinet - this is very handy for cups of tea and coffee as well as magazines and newspapers. It is also very easy to put away. There are 2 mains sockets at the very front of the lounge.

The Kitchen

  • Sterling Elite 650 Kitchen OverviewStorage - The kitchen has 2 overhead storage cupboards - one each side of the microwave. Below the worktop is a very wide drawer with a double fronted cupboard beneath that. Under the oven is a cupboard suitable for baking trays and similar items. If you need more kitchen storage then bear in mind, that on the opposite side of the caravan there are 2 further cupboards - 1 above and 1 below the fridge.
  • Daylight - the wide window directly behind the sink, plus the roof vent above and the rooflight that is situated between the lounge and kitchen give daylight into the kitchen area. The roof vent provides a way of controlling moisture and condensation from cooking.
  • Night-Time Lighting - The kitchen has 3 small fixed spotlights infront of the overhead lockers and microwave. There is a also a small striplight that has it's own switch and will shine down onto the sink area.

The TV Station

Central to the caravan, the TV station is directly opposite the Kitchen and immediately on your right as you enter the caravan. It's position means that the television can be easily viewed from the front lounge. The station has the usual TV connection point, 12 volt and mains socket power points. These are connected to a signal booster and the aerial. There are also cupboards and drawers for storage of DVD's, leads etc or if you preferred these could be utilised for extra kitchen storage.

The Central Washroom

Unlike many caravans that have the washroom at the rear, the Elite 650 has a central washroom. This does mean that it is not necessary for those sleeping in the front, to go through the bedroom to get to the washroom at night.

  • Daylight - there is a single window plus the rooflight to provide daylight to the washroom. The rooflight also provides a way of controlling moisture.
  • Storage - The washroom has 3 storage cupboards - handy for toiletries etc.
  • Shower Cubicle - this is a 'D' shaped cubicle. Approximate measurements are 80cm x 65cm.

Elite 650 Fixed Double Island BedThe Rear Bedroom

The bedroom has a highly symmetrical layout with left and right being almost the mirror-image of each other.

Many people like the handy, ease of a bedroom with a fixed island double bed gives - doing away with the need to make a bed up every night and pack it all away in the morning. An island bed in particular makes getting in and out of bed easier. The bedroom has it's own TV station area so that television can be viewed from the bed. The bedroom is separated from the central washroom by two sliding, solid doors.

  • Storage - Either side of the bed has the following:- A cupboard that has a mirror mounted on the access door. These cupboards contain a hanging rail. Beneath this is a drawer and beneath that a smaller cupboard. The bedroom has 2 standard width overhead lockers over the headboard. There is also the large storage space beneath the bed.

Warranty Included In The Price

Unless otherwise stated, the Penrose Touring price includes 12 months warranty provided by MB&G Insurance. At the time of purchase you are provided with a booklet produced by MB&G Insurance. The booklet explains what the warranty does and does not cover, what additional benefits you may be entitled to, the insurance conditions and how to make a claim under the warranty. The booklet also includes a claim form for your convenience.

MB&G - Who Are They?

MB&G Insurance are one of the few remaining privately owned warranty providers and have been in business since 1978. They are members of the Retail Motor Industry Federation, the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders and the National Caravan Council and have staff who specifically deal with caravan warranty. To quote MB&G themselves

Dealing with a Caravan warranty claim can be a very complex situation, which is why you’ll be glad of our knowledge and expertise. We understand the difficulties and can point out the potential pitfalls, and we also work with the manufacturers too. We can even cover that old devil, water ingress – a common problem that doesn’t always have a common solution – for up to seven years. Put simply, you can rely on us whatever the weather.

How Does It Work?

The warranty contract will be between yourselves and MB&G Insurance. If you need to make a warranty claim then you contact MB&G Insurance direct. We have collected a couple of quotes from people who have made warranty claims with MB&G Insurance which we feel will be helpful.

Hi Dick

I had a 36 months gold package with them and made a claim for a repair in France.
They paid 80% of the bill which was over 1100 euro.
In my book that was good value

Hi Glandwr.
I have had very good experiences with this company 3 years ago. Firstly, the power steering rack failed. One phone call to MB&G. I was asked where I would like to have it done, which was our local garage in Gretna. They then contacted the gararage. All I had to do was to sit and wait a few days until it was done.Brilliant!

Next was the kitchen tap which went in France--quick phone call to MB&G--kept receipt and was re-imbursed within 4 days of being back home. The integral bike rack hinges failed. It was repaired by Peter Hambilton, who did a brilliant job. Again, just a quick phone call to MB&G,and everything was sorted. I would only hope they are still as good now as they were then. I couldn't fault them. The warranty was in with the price of the van,so I can't say how much it cost but as the van was 10 yrs old I wanted some form of assurance for that 1st year. Incidentally,it's needed nothing since, other than basic service items. You can only speak as you find, but for me they were very good.

What Else Should I Know?
